Welcome to Conclave of the Mystics

A BIPOC Conference of Magicians

The Inaugural Gathering — September 19, 2026

The first Conclave of the Mystics was held online on September 19, 2026, bringing together six voices and six perspectives for a day of learning, reflection, conversation, and connection.

Conclave of the Mystics was created as a gathering space to uplift, amplify, and celebrate the voices of BIPOC magicians, spiritual practitioners, mystics, and wisdom keepers across traditions and practices.

The inaugural Conclave was an online-only gathering—a smaller, more intimate conference designed to create meaningful space for reflection, dialogue, and connection. Rather than recreating a large-scale event experience, this first Conclave embraced simplicity and intentionality, centering presentations and conversations around one guiding question:

What do BIPOC spiritual traditions, practices, and wisdom look like in the 21st century?

Through presentations, discussion, storytelling, and shared inquiry, Conclave invites practitioners to offer their work, ideas, research, and lived experience while exploring how ancestral knowledge continues to evolve and respond to contemporary life.

This gathering recognizes that BIPOC spiritual communities are not static—they are living traditions shaped by history, creativity, resistance, innovation, and care. Whether rooted in inherited practices, reconstructed traditions, contemporary magical systems, scholarship, community leadership, or personal spiritual paths, Conclave creates space for these voices to be seen and heard.

Why This Gathering Matters

BIPOC spiritual life has never been defined by a single tradition, institution, or way of understanding the sacred.

Across generations and communities, people have carried ancestral practices, folk traditions, magical systems, healing practices, divination, storytelling, and ways of relating to the sacred that have often existed outside dominant religious structures.

Many of these traditions have been preserved through families, communities, mentorship, oral history, lived experience, and the people who chose to keep carrying them forward.

Conclave of the Mystics creates space for those knowledge keepers to meet one another.

This is a space where practitioners can exchange ideas, traditions, experiences, questions, and approaches to contemporary spiritual life without having to first explain why their traditions deserve a place at the table.

That does not mean everyone shares the same beliefs or practices. A safe gathering does not have to be an unquestioning gathering. It can be a place where people ask questions, encounter differences, learn from one another, and engage in substantive conversation without turning difference into division.

And that is an important part of what the Conclave can become: not simply an annual event, but the beginning of a growing repository of voices, knowledge, and lived experience.

What we inherit is not static. We inherit something, we live it, we interpret it, and eventually we decide what we will carry forward.

Making Space for a Larger Conversation

The Conclave is not intended to stand in opposition to the dominant religious traditions that have played—and continue to play—important roles in BIPOC communities.

Instead, it recognizes that Black and BIPOC spiritual life is broader and more complex than any single religious expression.

There is an opportunity for meaningful dialogue between practitioners working within dominant religious traditions and those whose practices exist outside them. That bridge does not require us to believe the same things. It begins with recognizing one another as people asking serious questions about spirituality, history, community, meaning, and the sacred.

The inaugural Conclave was one place where that conversation began.

We hope it will continue in future gatherings and conversations.

What We Experienced:

  • Thoughtful Presentations — Six presenters shared knowledge, lived experience, traditions, research, and contemporary perspectives on BIPOC spiritual and magical practice.

  • Conclave Reflections — Brief opportunities throughout the day gave participants space to pause, stretch, reflect, and integrate what they heard rather than simply moving from one presentation to the next.

  • Community & Conversation — An online gathering designed to encourage meaningful connection and exchange across traditions, practices, and experiences.

  • Closing Conversation — Presenters and invited panelists gathered for a conversation around the questions at the heart of the Conclave:

What We Inherit → How We Live It → What We Carry Forward

Conclave of the Mystics is not simply a conference—it is an invitation to gather, witness one another’s work, and participate in building a stronger foundation for the future of BIPOC spiritual and magical communities.

Six Voices. Six Perspectives. One Gathering.

We began with one gathering, six voices, and one conversation. What grows from that gathering is something we will discover together.

The conversation continues.
